MARKETEL CREATES AIDS CAMPAIGN FOR QUEBEC

Montreal-based Marketel has created a shock campaign for the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec intended to warn Quebecers that AIDS remains a threat. The three print ads and two 30-second radio commercials are aimed at high-risk groups, including people with multiple partners, people who inject themselves with drugs and the homosexual community. Two of the print ads depict the silhouettes of a couple engaged in intercourse. The third shows a syringe. The campaign's tagline is "Le SIDA circule toujours" (AIDS Still Circulates). The radio ads are based on words and names that form the word SIDA, the French for AIDS. One such ad combines the words Nancy and David. The advertising will run in the province until the beginning of March.
