ENCORE ENCORE TO CLOSE, MANAGEMENT TO OPEN NEW SHOP

Encore Encore Strategic Marketing is closing down. The Toronto-based agency was founded in 1993 by chief operating officer Robert Peters and chief creative officer Brad Weir. According to Peters, he and Weir want to go in different directions and, "Winding up the agency is the best way for us to do that." Weir plans to pursuing opportunities in Canada, the U.S. and globally. Peters plans to time with his family while he considers new opportunities. Encore's senior management staff, consisting of of vice-president of client services Rick Shaver, vice-president of creative services Christopher Grimston, vice-president of event services Jennifer Lukas and vice-president of business affairs Ted Radoczy, have decided to open a new agency. According to Shaver, all Encore employees have been offered a job with the agency and all Encore clients including Molson Breweries, Miller International and Famous Players have decided to move to the new firm. Based in Toronto, the new agency will open on Dec. 4. The agency's name has not yet been announced.
