COMPAQ UNLEASHES NEW PRESARIOS

Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston, Texas will introduce11 new models of its Presario PCs to the North American market late next month. They are being released in the 7200 series, the 9200 series and the 9600 series. The 7200 and 9200 all come with quad-speed or 6X-speed CD-ROM drives and SpeechMail voice recognition that let users remotely retrieve voice mail messages with natural voice commands. The 7272 lets users scan documents, graphics and business cards into the computer by feeding them into a scanner built into the keyboard. The keyboard will also be sold separately, to be used with most 486 or Pentium PCs. The 9240 features a rewritable optical PD-CD drive which provides expanded storage space and can be used for backing up the hard drive. The 9600 Series has up to two gigabytes of memory on the hard disk drive, comes with 133 megahertz or 166 megahertz Intel Pentium processors and full motion video, as well as the scanner keyboard.
