UNISYS REORGANIZES
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Unisys Corp. has reorganized into three separate business units, each with its own sales force and profit-and-loss responsibility. The new divisions are: information services, computer systems and customer services. In the past a general sales force sold all products and services. The computer company has reported a fourth-quarter loss of $676 million(US), and is planning to lay off 20% of its work force. The company is hoping the restructuring will result in profits in 1996. Sales of Unisys services grew 21% in the quarter, providing 35% of total revenue. Two years ago services provided 23% of total revenue. Since 1990 Unisys has cut its work force in half. Last November, U.S.-based Tech Data Corp. began distributing Unisys personal computers, servers and peripheral products. In September Unisys introduced Internet Connectivity Packages to the North American market. In Canada advertising for Unisys is done by Bozell Palmer Bonner of Toronto.
