QUEBEC FUNNYMAN PITCHES HIMSELF ON TV
By Adnews Staff
A Quebec comedian has produced his own television show to sell tickets for his stage act. It's not that Patrick Huard has had a lot of trouble drawing audiences; the 320 shows he has done so far have sold 250,000 tickets, reports the Quebec City daily newspaper Le Soleil. However, the entertainer feels he can make the action at the box office a lot hotter with a small-screen technique used to sell everything from cooking utensils to JoJo's Psychic Alliance - the infomercial. Huard has a show scheduled at a Quebec City theatre May 5-18. To flog tickets for this event, he has recorded an infomercial which will run Feb. 3-4 on the Télévision Quatre Saisons network. Huard enlisted another comedian, Yves Corbeil, to help him with a 30-minute sales pitch that takes an off-the-wall approach, including a promise that buying a ticket will improve your sex life.
