NBA SIGNS CANADIAN TELEVISION AGREEMENTS

The National Basketball Association has formed new television agreements with Rogers Sportsnet, TSN, Global Television Network and The Score. The multi-year agreements begin with the 2002/2003 season, which starts today. Rogers Sportsnet will air 63 regular season games, a minimum of 21 playoff games, weekly highlight program 'NBA Action," a new weekly program for youth called "NBA XL" and All-Star coverage. TSN's schedule includes 15 regular season games, a minimum of 10 playoff games and pre-game show "NBA Tonight." Global will show the NBA finals games along with weekend coverage of the Toronto Raptors in Ontario and some special game telecasts. The National Post, which is owned by CanWest Global, will also be involved in the marketing of the NBA in Canada. The Score will air a minimum of eight regular season games, 12 playoff games and a new weekly show called "Court Surfing." Rogers Sportsnet and TSN had previous agreements with NBA. Global Television and The Score did not.
