HEALTH CANADA READIES SECOND-HAND SMOKE CAMPAIGN

Health Canada will begin a new advertising campaign on Monday focusing on second-hand smoke in the workplace. The English- and French-language television commercials feature a 57-year-old non-smoking woman who has lung cancer because of her exposure to second-hand smoke. The ads will run for four weeks during current affairs and news programming. Bus shelter ads will be used in some cities during the last two weeks of the television campaign. The campaign was created by BCP of Montreal. Earlier this year Health Canada ran a compaign that focused on second-hand smoke in the home. Health Canada is also planning a second-hand smoke youth campaign that will begin next month.
