ROCKY MOUNTAINEER TO CONTINUE DIRECT MARKETING CAMPAIGN

Rocky Mountaineer Railtours is preparing a U.S. direct marketing campaign 2003 similar to its effort of this year. The Vancouver-based passenger rail company aims to attract customers in the U.S. Bryant, Fulton & Shee of Vancouver developed the 2002 initiative. A mailing list was constructed consisting of people who had requested brochures and people referred to the company by previous customers. Postcards were sent to the 32,000 people on the list which invited them to book a tour for the chance to win the cost of their trip. According to the company, the campaign resulted in 261 bookings and 524 guests. The 2003 campaign, which will make the same offer, will break in February, said Michele de Rappard, manager of marketing for Rocky Mountaineer Railtours. The new campaign will include a wider distribution, she said.
