BCE EMERGIS SELLS E-NEWS TO CCNMATTHEWS
By Adnews Staff
BCE Emergis is selling its newswire service e-News to CCNMatthews for approximately $6 million. CCNMatthews, which is also a news distribution company, will fold the operations of e-News into its own. The company will hire a unknown number of e-News' employees and will redirect visitors to the e-News Web site to its own site at <http://www.ccnmatthews.com>. The news releases previously archived at the e-News Web site will now be housed at CCNMatthews' site. Pierre Blouin, chief executive officer of BCE Emergis, said the sale of e-News was part of a plan the company announced in April. "E-News no longer fits with our strategic focus around presentment, payment and claims processing, and its divestiture is part of several that will help streamline operations and allow us to execute our strategy," he said. The sale is expected to close on Friday. CCNMatthews is a subsidiary of the Pims group of companies of London, England.
