NESTLE HOLDS NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK CONTEST
By Adnews Staff
Nestle Canada has begun a contest aimed at students which will give away $20,000 in cash. The "Nescafé Big Break" contest invites students aged 18-24 years to explain their ideas for the future. Entries must be 500 words or less and describe how the entrant would spend the prize money to make the idea happen. A panel of judges will review the entries and pick three hundred semi-finalists who will then be asked to submit supporting materials that further communicate their ideas. Eleven finalists will be selected and flown to Acapulco, Mexico during the week of Dec. 8 to make a final presentation to the judging panel. The grand prize winner will receive $20,000. Ten runners-up will each receive $1,000. The contest is being promoted with information kits distributed to Canadian campuses and print ads in campus newspapers. Additional support includes on-air and online promotion through Nestle's partnership with Toronto-based MuchMusic. The contest is also being promoted online at <http://www.nescafe.ca>. The deadline for entries is Aug. 16. Public relations for Nescafé are handled by Weber Shandwick Worldwide. Its advertising is done by MacLaren McCann and its promotions are handled by Strateco. A recent survey conducted by Thompson Lightstone & Company on behalf of Nestle found that 95% of Canadians in the 18-24 year-old age group are optimistic about their future and believe their personal life goals are attainable.
