NATIONAL INTRODUCES DIGITAL PR SERVICE

National Public Relations is offering a new service for clients that want to incorporate new media in their communications activities. A Montreal-based group of employees will handle public relations services that use online communications channels. This includes online media centres, e-mail communications campaigns, Internet visibility strategies and a service called National Express. This service uses a corporate Web site to distribute urgent information regarding financial events, industrial accidents or interruptions in service or production. It allows the digital public relations staff to put content online immediately when contacted by a client. Once the emergency or event is over, the content can be removed from the home page or incorporated into the Web site. "Today, any corporate public relations or communications plan that does not take new media into account is incomplete," said Francine La Haye, managing partner at National Montreal. "More than half of Quebeckers make use of the Internet. The vast majority of medium-sized and large businesses have a Web site. New media are now an essential part of business communications."
