IKEA PROMOTES BIGGEST CANADIAN STORE TO DATE
By Adnews Staff
Ikea Canada, based in Burlington, ON, opened its largest Canadian store yesterday in Coquitlam, BC. The Swedish home furnishing retailer currently operates nine stores in Canada. The Coquitlam location is built on 15 acres of land and has a shopping area about 120,000 square feet in size. Television, newspaper and transit advertising, created by Carmichael Lynch of Minneapolis, is promoting the opening of the store. Various promotional give-aways are also planned, including a $5,000 shopping spree for the first person in line and $50 gift certificates for the first 22 sets of twins to visit the store. The twins promotion is intended to tie the Coquitlam store with Ikea Richmond, the oldest Ikea store in North America. The grand opening advertising campaign will run over a ten-day period.
