BELL CANADA AND KIDS HELP PHONE HOLD FIRST ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

Bell Canada and Kids Help Phone will hold the first annual Bell Walk for Kids on May 5. Events will take place simultaneously in 20 Canadian cities. The proceeds will go to Kids Help Phone, a 24-hour phone counselling and Internet service for children and youth. This is the first time a national, multi-city event has been staged to support Kids Help Phone. Previously fundraising was done through regional activities, according to Karyn McMahon, manager of marketing and communications for Kids Help Phone. Media sponsors CTV, The Globe and Mail and Sympatico.ca will promote the walk with a national advertising campaign that will break on April 8. The campaign, which uses the tagline "It'll be a fun day. For a serious cause," will run for four weeks. The advertising was created by Cossette Communication-Marketing, which is also a sponsor of the event. Sympatico.ca has also developed a Web site for the event at <http://www.bellwalkforkids.com> containing details about the walk and instructions for those wishing to participate or make a donation by pledging a walker. Additional sponsors of the Bell Walk for Kids include Bank of Montreal, Kellogg Canada, Minacs, Nestle Canada, Parmalat and Subway.
