PANTENE PRO-VOICE MUSIC COMPETITION COMES TO CANADA

One year after a U.S. debut, the Pantene Pro-Voice national music competition is coming to Canada. Created by Procter & Gamble to promote its Pantene hair care brand, the contest is open to unsigned female musicians 14 to 24 years of age. The contest's partners include Fuji Film, HMV Canada, Seventeen Magazine, Steve's Music Store and Warner Music Canada. Participants can submit entries between March 1 and May 31. To enter, participants must write and perform an original song and submit a written copy of the lyrics, a recording on tape, CD or MP3, a photograph and a submission form. The winner will receive a demo recording deal with Warner Music Canada, multiple performances as the opening act for an established artist's North American concert tour, distribution of the song on the Pantene Pro-Voice CD, $5,000 of equipment from Steve's Music Store, a $10,000 donation to the high school music department of the winner's choice, a Fuji Film prize package as well as press and promotional support. The Pantene Pro-Voice competition is being promoted with television and print advertising in publications including TV Guide, Flare and Fashion. The campaign's creative, by Grey New York, uses the tagline "Pantene Pro-Voice. Celebrating What Women Have to Say." In-store materials at partner retail locations are also in use. Public relations for the competition are being handled by Advance Planning/MS&L of Toronto.
