MACKENZIE ISSUES ULTIMATE INVESTMENT CHALLENGE

Toronto-based Mackenzie Financial began a competition called the "Ultimate Investment Challenge" on Saturday in the National Post. Canadian entrants have until March 31 to create and register an imaginary $100,000 portfolio of five Mackenzie mutual funds. Contestants choose from 54 Mackenzie mutual funds and allocate $20,000 to each one. The contest will run for six months. The intent is to test entrants' portfolio building skills and educate them about diversification, asset allocation and the benefits of investing for the long-term. The grand prize is $25,000. Second and third place prizes of $15,000 and $5,000 will also be awarded. At the end of each month from April to August a $1,000 random draw prize will also be awarded.
