CANCER SOCIETY RECRUITING VOLUNTEER DRIVERS
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Cancer Society's Toronto Region, working with the Ontario Division, kicks off a new recruitment campaign tomorrow in Toronto. The campaign aims to recruit volunteer drivers to take cancer patients to treatment appointments. The campaign is wider in scope than past recruiting efforts, which were conducted locally on an ongoing basis, said Joan Rumack, outreach consultant with the organization. The goal of the pilot project is to recruit 50 new volunteer drivers. If successful the campaign may be expanded to run throughout the province. Beginning tomorrow, cancer survivors will stand on the street corners of two intersections in Toronto holding signs that read "Need ride to cancer treatment." A print component of the campaign, created by TBWAChiatDay, includes posters, bookmarks and brochures as well as ads in Toronto newspapers.
