OKANAGAN SPRING BREWERY TRIES PULL TAB ADVERTISING

Okanagan Spring Brewery, based in Vernon, BC, is the first beverage company to use a new form of advertising from CANDO International Ltd. Called "MettleTabs", the product allows beverage companies to put a message or logo on the pull tabs of its cans. One million cans of Okanagan Spring Beer will be made with black pull tabs inscribed "1516". The number refers to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 which states that only four ingredients, barley, water, hops and yeast, can be used in beer production. "We wanted to share with our customers that we are committed to brewing only the purest beer possible," said Steve Pelkey, marketing director of Okanagan Spring Brewery. Okanagan used its advertising agency Grey Worldwide Northwest of Vancouver to create the inscription. The brewer's Spring Beer is distributed sold in Western Canada.
