MCDONALD'S BREAKS NEW OLYMPIC ADVERTISING
By Adnews Staff
McDonald's Corporation broke a new Olympic television spot this week designed to pay tribute to its World Champion Crew. Called "World", the spot features employees from around the world who will travel to Salt Lake City as athletes, coaches, officials and media. Created by DDB Chicago, "World" will air on network, cable and syndicated programming until the end of the Winter Games. A second Olympic ad will break on Jan. 4. "Toboggan" depicts four children who are magically transported into an Olympic bobsled while tobogganing down a hill. The spot ends with the children imaging themselves crossing the finish line and winning the race. During the Winter Games "Toboggan" will be rotated with additional advertising promoting McDonald's New Tastes Menu items in the U.S. Globally, McDonald's will hold special restaurant promotions with themed packaging and advertising that promotes Olympic-themed menu items.
