AIR CANADA CHAMPIONSHIP STILL SEEKS SPONSOR
By Adnews Staff
The organizing committee for the Air Canada Championship, Vancouver's PGA Tour franchise, is still searching for a new title sponsor. The search began in October when Air Canada announced it would discontinue its sponsorship following the 2002 event. The Montreal-based airline has been title sponsor of the annual golf tournament for the past three years. Prior to that it was a presenting sponsor for three years when the event was known as the Greater Vancouver Open. According to the committee, it is currently in discussions to secure a title sponsor for the 2003 to 2006 period. The 2002 Air Canada Championship will take place August 26 to Sept. 1 at the Northview Golf & Country Club in Surrey, B.C. Proceeds from the event go to a number of British Columbia charities.
