SATURDAY NIGHT MAGAZINE TO RETURN THIS SPRING
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Multi-Vision Publishing Inc. has acquired Saturday Night Magazine from the National Post and plans to resume publication of the magazine in the spring. The magazine, in a new glossy format, will initially be published six times a year and distributed exclusively with the national newspaper. As part of the agreement between the two companies, another Multi-Vision title, Elm Street, will also be distributed to National Post readers. Elm Street is currently distributed with a number of other urban newspapers. Financial details of the agreement have not been made public. National Post and its owner CanWest Global retain an option to acquire ownership in the magazine in the future. National Post stopped publishing Saturday Night in September in an effort to reduce debt, incorporating some of the magazine's material into the newspaper's weekend edition.
