ICA BEGINS AD INDUSTRY RECRUITMENT DRIVE AT UNIVERSITIES
By Adnews Staff
The Institute of Canadian Advertising has begun the first phase of a new initiative designed to recruit university students to the marketing and advertising industry. At the centre of the initiative is the <http://www.mybigfuture.ca> Web site created by Taxi Advertising & Design of Toronto, the lead agency for the recruiting effort. The site consists of three major sections: Big Impact presents case studies, Bright Minds describes various agency positions and Big Future provides a reference list of advertising books, links to industry and association Web sites and a list of agencies currently accepting resumes. The recruiting effort also includes visits to four Ontario universities where industry leaders will make presentations. Posters and collateral materials depicting a blank pop can are being distributed prior to each visit. Large displays in the form of a pop can dispenser are also being set up in universities to promote the Web site and the visits. The copy on the dispensers reads "Identity Crisis This can has issues. Without a name or label this product doesn't stand a chance. Interested in turning this nothing in to a something? Make this the next big thing and pop the tab at www.mybigfuture.ca." The ICA recruiting initiative may expand to other universities next year.
