CANOE MAKES DEAL WITH 24/7

Canoe has signed an email list management agreement with 24/7 Canada which gives 24/7 exclusive management of Canoe's permission-based email list. The firm also gets the right to sell advertising and promotional opportunities in three of Canoe's newsletters: Canoe, Autonet.ca and Lifewise. Previously, management of the email list and selling of advertising and promotional inventory were handled in-house. A special offer will be presented to renters this year by which they will receive 25% more email addresses. According to David Schwalm, vice-president of sales for Canoe, Canoe expects to create newsletters for its other Web brands, including Slam and Showbiz, by the end of the year and will expand its agreement with 24/7 to include those newsletters as well. Toronto-based 24/7 has advertising sales partnerships with roughly 100 Web sites including AOL Canada and BellZinc.ca and manages permission-based email lists and newsletters for BellZinc.ca, Economist.com and HMV.com
