AOL PROMOTES NEW FRENCH-LANGUAGE SERVICE

Toronto-based AOL Canada Inc. is promoting its recently-launched French-language service in Quebec with a new television advertising campaign. Three spots will run this fall featuring Quebec actress Pascale Montpetit, whose character demonstrates that getting online is easy with AOL. The first ad focuses on getting started, the second on sending and receiving email and the third on AOL's keyword function. The campaign's tagline is "En ligne, tout simplement," which roughly means "Easy to get online." In addition to television advertising, which begins next week, AOL is also promoting the service with direct mail CDs, which began arriving at households in Quebec last month. Advertising for AOL Canada is done by Leo Burnett. Media is handled by Starcom Worldwide. Public relations for the launch of the service are being handled by di Giorgio Communications of Montreal.
