EZ ROCK SUSPENDS CONTESTS, DONATES PRIZE MONEY TO U.S.

Toronto radio station 97.3 FM EZ Rock suspended all of its regular contests last week following the events in New York and Washington. "Like you, all of us at EZ Rock are shocked and saddened by the tragic events in New York and elsewhere in the United States," read full-page ads in The Toronto Star and The Toronto Sun newspapers on Friday. The ads informed readers of the station's decision to suspend all of its regular contests and its intent to donate all cash prizes from the Million Dollar Soft Rock Song of the Day contest to relief efforts in the U.S. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were lost. We encourage everyone to do their part," the ads concluded. Brian DePoe, program director for EZ Rock, said a total of $6,000 has been accumulated over the course of the week. EZ Rock's new agency, MultiStudio Advertising of Toronto, created the ads. MultiStudio began working for EZ Rock last month. The agency will handle all of EZ Rock's print campaigns. Previously print advertising was handled by a number of agencies on a project basis.
