SEGA OF AMERICA HIRES HIP AS CANADIAN DISTRIBUTOR

Sega of America has named Toronto-based Hip Interactive the exclusive Canadian distributor of Sega video games. Previously, distribution was handled by Hip's SJS division and Beamscope of Richmond Hill, ON. SJS will now handle all Sega accounts nationally. In addition to providing video game software for Sony Computer Entertainment's Playstation and Playstation 2 systems and Nintendo's Game Boy Advance hand-held system, Sega will provide video game software for Microsoft's new Xbox system and Nintendo's new Gamecube system, both set to be released this fall. Sega is also planning a major advertising campaign in Canada to promote its Sega Sports brand. Television and other advertising will run from mid-September to February, however no details are available at this time. Public relations for Sega of America in Canada are handled by Temple Scott Associates of Toronto.
