SEARS AND PETRO-CANADA SET UP LOYALTY EXCHANGE PROGRAM
By Adnews Staff
Sears Canada and Petro-Canada have formed a partnership in which members of Sears Club and Petro-Points can exchange points between the loyalty programs. This is the first time Sears and Petro-Canada have teamed up. Members of the retailer's Sears Club program can now exchange points for Petro-Canada's Petro-Points program and vice-versa. Sears established its Sears Club program, which currently has more than 8.9 million members, in 1987. Points can be redeemed for Sears merchandise, services and travel. Petro-Canada launched the Petro-Points program in 1995. To date the program has over 5 million members. Petro-Points can be redeemed at participating Petro-Canada stations for gas, emergency gear and vehicle care in addition to pop, chips and other items. A flyer insert and statement inserts to Sears Club members and signage in Sears stores, created by TBWAChiatDay, will inform members of the exchange option. Signage at Petro-Canada stations, created by Cossette Communication-Marketing, and promotion in Petro-Canada's member newsletter will inform Petro-Points members. In September Petro-Canada will also hold a one-day event at a number of its stations across Canada to highlight the new arrangement.
