CFL 2001 CAMPAIGN TOUCHES DOWN
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Football League's 2001 advertising campaign touched down on TSN and Sportsnet this week. Scheduled to run the length of the regular season, which concludes in early November, this year's campaign focuses on traditional league rivalries such as Toronto and Hamilton as well as rivalries that have slowly developed over the past few years such as BC and Montreal, said Jim Neish, director of marketing for the CFL. According to the CFL, the 30-second spots depict the pride that CFL fans have for their teams and their cities in a fun and irreverent manner. The tagline is "The Rivalry Lives On." Television advertising will be supported by some radio, thanks to a two-year deal between the CFL and Chum Radio Group's The Team Radio Network. The Team will be the exclusive broadcaster of the 2001 Grey Cup. In addition to CFL vignettes, the deal also includes Grey Cup contests and on-air promotions. The CFL's 2001 ad campaign was created by Toronto-based Bensimon Byrne D'Arcy.
