TDI CANADA AND MEDIACOM TO MERGE

Toronto-based media companies TDI Canada and Mediacom are merging as a result of the merger of New York-based Viacom's outdoor advertising divisions TDI and Infinity Outdoor in the U.S. Mediacom is a division of Infinity Outdoor. The combined U.S. outdoor advertising company will operate as The Viacom Outdoor Group. "As consolidation of the advertising marketplace continues, there is an increasing client demand for solution-based one-stop shopping," said Farid Suleman, president and chief executive officer of Viacom's Infinity Broadcasting Corp. "In merging these two dynamic divisions, under the Viacom name, we are creating an unparalleled outdoor powerhouse." TDI's primary focus is transit advertising while Mediacom's products include transit shelters, billboards, wall murals and superboards. The operating name of the new Canadian company is not yet known.
