TELUS OFFERS ONLINE MORTGAGE SERVICES, MOBILE BUSINESS BROWSING
By Adnews Staff
Telus, based in Burnaby, BC, is offering online mortgage services via its MyBC.com, Alberta.com and MyTO.com portals. The telecommunications company teamed up with national mortgage broker firm INVIS and e-commerce technology company Basis 100 to construct the online mortgage centres. The service is designed to save consumers time and trips to the bank. A user submits an application to the site. A mortgage consultant then shops for the best rate available from over 30 Canadian lenders. Additional services allow users to calculate payment scenarios, receive advice and renew or refinance an existing mortgage. Plans are also in the works for the centres to begin delivering alerts to applicants' Web-enabled phones to let them know the status of their application.
Also, Telus' wireless division, Telus Mobility, is rolling out two new Web services for business clients called Surf Business and Surf Enterprise. Available to small and mid-sized businesses, Surf Business is a wireless browser that allows business travelers to send and receive wireless emails from existing corporate and personal email accounts on their Telus Mobility Web-enabled phones. Users can also receive business news, schedules, weather and travel information. Aimed at large corporate clients, Surf Enterprise offers a customized browser menu that lets mobile employees access corporate networks, email and other data.
