MetroToday, a free daily newspaper from Torstar Corporation and Metro International S.A. will debut on Monday. The publication is the product of a new company formed by Torstar and Metro. The two companies announced their intentions to merge their separate commuter dailies, Today and Metro, in March, both of which launched last summer. The paper will target Toronto commuters who do not read one of the city's four daily newspapers. Like Today and Metro, MetroToday will continue to be distributed within the city's transit system. The paper's initial circulation will be 190,000. Torstar and Metro each hold a 50% interest in MetroToday. Torstar holds a 75% interest in the new publishing company. Greg Lutes, previously publisher of Metro, is now the publisher of MetroToday. Andrew Go, president of business ventures for Torstar Media Group, is chairman.
