CORUS TO ACQUIRE TRI-CO

Toronto-based Corus Entertainment has agreed to buy Tri-Co Broadcasting Limited of Cornwall, ON for $4 million. Tri-Co operates three radio stations in Cornwall: Variety 104.5 FM, an adult contemporary station; Blaze 101.9 FM, a country station; and Jewel 1220 AM, which plays oldies. Hal Blackadar, vice-president of Corus Radio for Ontario said the three stations were a good fit for Corus. "They will extend our reach into eastern Ontario and increase our coverage between Kingston and Montreal," he said. The Tri-Co purchase, subject to CRTC approval, would bring the number of radio stations owned by Corus Entertainment to 52.
