COMPARATIVE ADS OKAYED IN EUROPE

The 15 countries in the European Union will have official approval for comparative ads in mid-1998. Twelve of the member countries in Europe's Council of Ministers in Brussels recently formed a majority that agreed on rules governing such advertising. Member states are not allowed to enforce any regulations that go further than the directive. Only Belgium has an outright ban on comparative ads.
