DAIRY BUREAU TOP AD SPENDER

The Dairy Bureau of Canada was the biggest Canadian advertising spender last year in the packaged goods category, shelling out more than $14 million, according to Nielsen Marketing Research of Markham, Ont. Coca-Cola Classic, Campbell Soup Company and Pepsi-Cola Max Diet each spent over $7 million, while the Ontario Milk Marketing Board rounded out the top five spenders with just over $6 million. Duracell Batteries and Wrigley's Extra Gum spent over $5 million. Three brands had more than $4 million spent on them: Pepsi-Cola, Kellogg's Rice Krispies and Ultra Tide. In all, Canadian companies spent more than $4 billion advertising their products and services.
