PANASONIC PARTNERS WITH BLUE JAYS FOR POWER THURSDAYS
By Adnews Staff
Panasonic Canada, based in Mississauga, has teamed up with The Toronto Blue Jays for Panasonic Power Thursdays at The SkyDome. At each Thursday home game in the 2001 season Panasonic will give away $25,000 in prizes. In part of the promotion called the Panasonic Power Shot, if a Toronto player hits a homerun one ticket-holder wins a Panasonic digital camcorder and a Blue Jays autographed baseball. Fans can also fill out ballots as they enter the stadium for a random draw for a home theatre system valued at $7,500. Citytv's John Gallagher, who hosts Panasonic Power Thursdays, asks trivia questions and awards prizes to everybody in a winning fan's row. At the first Panasonic Power Thursday last month, 58 ticket-holders won Panasonic Palmlink family radios. The partnership deal allows Panasonic to use The Toronto Blue Jays name and logo in its national marketing activities. The second Panasonic Power Thursday takes place today when the Blue Jays play the Oakland Athletics. Print ads running in the sports section of The Toronto Star prior to each Panasonic Power Thursday are being accompanied by in-stadium promotion. Advertising for Panasonic is done by Palmer Jarvis DDB. Public relations are handled by Environics Communications.
