ESP MEDIA DISCONNECTED
By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based ESP Media is shutting down, saying it no longer has the funds necessary to pursue its business plan. The telecommunications company's Espion service offered customers double airtime at basic rates for listening to advertising messages prior to dialing a phone number or retrieving messages. The service was targeted at young adults 18- to 24-years-of-age. According to an unnamed spokesperson for the company, ESP's 8,000 customers are being asked to contact other providers to subscribe to another service. ESP launched last fall backed by Microcell, Zoom Media and Intasys Corporation.
