Commuters on Montreal's Métro transit system woke up to a new transit paper today. Métro is a new 24-page tabloid that will be published and printed by Montreal-based Transcontinental. The paper will have a circulation of 100,000 and will be distributed Monday through Friday in the city's 65 Métro stations. Transcontinental will own 75% of the newspaper. The remaining 25% will be owned by Metro International S.A. The Montreal newspaper is the first French-language paper in Metro International's roster of publications. The company currently publishes free transit newspapers in 17 cities in Europe, North America and South America. The company debuted a similar paper in Toronto last summer. Transcontinental and Metro International are launching the Montreal newspaper in partnership with the Montreal Urban Community Transit Corporation.
