BC ESCAPES CAMPAIGN NOW RUNNING

Tourism BC broke a $6 million marketing campaign called BC Escapes on February 23. The initiative is an annual effort that promotes British Columbia as an ideal place for a spring getaway. The 12-week campaign includes television, online and print advertising as well as direct mail. Tourism BC is a Crown corporation responsible for marketing British Columbia to the world. The BC Escapes campaign is led by Tourism BC in partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission, Tourism Vancouver, Tourism Victoria and Tourism Whistler. Two guidebooks, BC Escapes: Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler, which highlights city experiences, and the Adventures & Experiences Guide, which features other regions of the province, form the core of the campaign. The HelloBC.com Web site, which was constructed last year, will play a more prominent role in this year's campaign. The site lets potential visitors plan an itinerary and book accommodations. HelloBC.com has been updated to include all BC Escapes travel packages described in the two guidebooks. Tourists can also book their trips through Tourism BC's 1-800-HELLOBC telephone number. Advertising for Tourism BC is done by Cossette Communication-Marketing in Vancouver.
