ONTARIO SPCA WEATHERS DOWNPOUR

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has broken a month-long awareness campaign in support of Spay/Neuter Month, which is March. The effort aims to raise awareness of pet overpopulation. The campaign is using a number of initiatives including posters and information kits at veterinary practices, high schools and Ontario SPCA branches and affiliates. Posters will also be displayed on subway cars and buses in Toronto. Radio public service announcements will be aired on Toronto stations Q107, Classical 96.3 FM and Classical 103.1 FM in Eastern Ontario. Q107 radio personality John Derringer will serve as the campaign's spokesperson. The tagline "Stop the Downpour" builds on the theme of "raining cats and dogs." Campaign initiatives were created in-house. The dog and cat characters used in the campaign's print materials were created by Alison Birtles Fraser, a designer with Ove Design & Communications in Toronto.
