WEATHER NETWORK BELITTLES GROUNDHOG

The Weather Network unveiled the latest execution in its outdoor advertising campaign on January 29. The billboard reads "A Groundhog? Seriously?" It, along with additional executions in the 2001 campaign such as "Bitch & Complain Sooner" and "Some Scenes May be Disturbing to Viewers", will run until spring. "The Weather Network has become the definitive source for weather information in the country, so no one is more appropriate to the job of looking at the long term forecast," said John Lee, president of Toronto-based Holmes & Lee, the network's advertising agency. "We thought Groundhog Day would be a terrific time to draw attention to this fact, and came up with an idea that might promote it." The Weather Network has been running a national outdoor advertising campaign for the past three years.
