Today, the free daily transit newspaper formerly known as GTA Today, broke a promotional campaign called "Mystery Man" yesterday. The six-week effort was developed by The Ongoing Partnership of Toronto and will award $30,000 to readers during the run of the contest. Each weekday a Mystery Man will travel the Greater Toronto Area and Toronto transit system. A clue will appear in each day's edition of Today letting readers know how to spot the Mystery Man, who will be wearing or carrying a different purple item each day. Readers who spot the Mystery Man and show him a copy of that day's newspaper will get to select from a number of envelopes each containing a cash prize ranging from $10 to $500. According to Today, the daily transit paper want readers to get into the routine of picking up a copy of the publication each day. Exterior bus boards supporting the contest are rolling out this week. Television advertising is running during early morning and evening TV programs on CTV and CityTV.
