ONTV COMES HOME IN NEW RE-BRANDING EFFORT
By Adnews Staff
Beginning on February 12, ONtv will reposition itself as the local broadcaster for the Hamilton/Halton/Niagara region. A re-branding of the station include changing the ONtv identity to CH Television. "Almost one year ago, we explained in our application to the CRTC that under CanWest ownership the station would have the resources to return to its local roots," said Kevin Shea, president and COO of Global Communications. As of 6:00 p.m. on February 12, the station will officially identify itself as CH Television. A new station logo will accompany the identity change and all on-air elements including music and graphics will be updated to reflect the CH Television identity. As well, a new CH Television Web site will be created as part of the in-house re-branding program. The station first introduced viewers to the ONtv identity in 1997. The change to the CH Television brand will be explained to viewers via on-air promotion. Ten-second teaser and pre-promotion spots promoting the station's re-branding began running in late January.
