BEER DISTRIBUTOR SEEKS RETURNS FROM CONSUMER PROMOTION
By Adnews Staff
Calgary-based beer distribution company Brewers Distributors Ltd. and the Vancouver-based Western Brewers Association are supporting BDL's expanded beer container return system in Alberta with a new consumer promotion. BDL, which recycles empty beer containers in addition to distributing full ones, expanded the number of its return points to over 220 locations in the province. Beginning now and running until March 31, consumers who return their empties will receive, along with their 10 cent deposit, a chance to win one of nine Sony DVD players. POP materials and a newspaper advertising campaign broke yesterday promoting the contest. Advertising creative uses the tagline "You see empty...we see full." Consumers will also be able to identify authorized BDL agents by a new logo, also introduced yesterday. The logo is a variation on the recycling emblem, said Garry Clermont, president of BDL, and will be displayed at all BDL agent locations. Advertising was created by Derek Coke-Kerr of Alberta and Wasserman & Partners of Vancouver, which also designed the logo. Three random draws from all of the entries received will take place on February 10, March 15 and April 15.
