FIRST AD PUTS WILD CHERRY PEPSI BY THE POOL
By Adnews Staff
Pepsi-Cola Canada Ltd. of Mississauga, ON has popped the top on its first Canadian television ad for Wild Cherry Pepsi since the drink was introduced to this country a year ago. Called "pool deck" and created by BBDO Canada of Toronto, the spot is aimed at the drink's target market, young people who see themselves as "creative, carefree, open-minded and independent," and attempts to instill the product with a "fun-loving personality," according to the company. The ad depicts a young man on a pool deck attempting to dislodge another, much larger man from the lounge chair next to an attractive young woman. He uses a can of Wild Cherry Pepsi as a magnifying glass to burn off the man's bathing suit with the heat of the sun, causing him to flee the scene. The young man then claims the empty chair. The spot broke yesterday, running in English Canada on MuchMusic and YTV.
