ORGANIC RESTRUCTURES, NAMES NEW CEO

San Francisco-based Internet professional services firm Organic, Inc. said Wednesday it will be cutting its global workforce by 25% as part of a restructuring of business operations. Organic co-founder Jonathan Nelson will also be stepping down as CEO. He will remain chairman and focus on long-term strategy and business development. As part of the restructuring, Organic will close its Atlanta and Boston operations. In total, approximately 270 positions are expected to be eliminated. The firm currently operates offices in Chicago, Detroit, London, New York, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Singapore and Toronto. Clients such as DaimlerChrysler, British Telecommunications plc, Tommy Hilfiger and Federated Department Stores, Inc., are offered consulting, Web site design, software engineering, advertising and public relations services. Succeeding Nelson is Mark Kingdon joining Organic from Internet incubator idealab. Effective Jan. 15, 2001, Kingdon will assume responsibility for Organic's day-to-day operations. Troy Young, vice president and managing director of Organic's Toronto office, said nothing changes as a result of the company's restructuring. Organic opened its Toronto office in March.
