TBWA/CHIAT/DAY ACQUIRES BFS

Toronto's TBWA/Chiat/Day has acquired Vancouver-based Bryant, Fulton & Shee. Financial details were not disclosed. According to TBWA, the acquisition is part of the agency's North American expansion. Bob Bryant, president of BFS, said his agency was planning on becoming part of an agency network for several years. "That we have been able to align with TBWA/Chiat/Day, one of North America's most celebrated brands, is particularly satisfying, since their commitment to building a strong network in Canada is a vision we share," he said in a statement. BFS operates offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto serving clients such as BC Gas, BC Lottery Corporation, Group Telecom, Labatt Breweries and Shaw Cablesystems. The agency will continue to operate under the BFS name and its management team will remain in place. Although both will work as separate entities in the TBWA network, the two will collaborate on projects and assignments in the future. Client conflicts as a result of the acquisition are now in the process of being worked out, said Sharon Smyl, executive assistant with TBWA Chiat/Day. Additional details regarding the conflicts were not disclosed.
