CANWEST MOVING INTO QUEBEC MARKET
By Adnews Staff
CanWest Global Communications Corp. is going into the Quebec market. The broadcasting company has made a deal to buy a controlling interest in Quebec English-language radio station CKMI. This must be approved by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. CanWest is also asking the CRTC to okay extending the CKMI signal to Montreal. CanWest has stations in six provinces outside of Quebec. If it is successful in its bid for Vancouver-based WIC Western International Communications it will increase its western presence with stations in Alberta and B.C.
