NEW COMPANY LEAPS INTO BATTERY MARKET

Toronto-based The Sebastian Consultancy is rolling out a new advertising campaign to position Leap Energy and Power Corporation among its competitors. The new battery company launched a year and half ago, forming distribution agreements with a number of retailers across North America including Zellers, Sears, Tower Records, Toys 'R Us and Target. The North American ad campaign is launching in the Canadian market first, rolling out this month, and will break south of the border next spring. The Sebastian Consultancy tapped a number of international companies in creating the campaign including Why Not Associates, The Mob Film Company and Andy Hughes of Air Edel, all of London, England, in creating two new television spots for Leap. Sebastian also worked with David Carson Design, Tony Shimkin of LMNOP, both of New York and Optix Digital Post & FX of Toronto on a second television campaign for Leap scheduled to run in 2001. Print ads, created by Sebastian and Dinnick & Howells of Toronto, will run in trade publications supporting the television spots and an eight-page insert, created by Sebastian and Why Not Associates, for newspapers and magazine is also being used in the campaign. Packaging for Leap was created by Desgrippes Gobé & Associates of Paris and New York.
