LMG LAUNCHES LASER ADVERTISING MEDIUM
By Adnews Staff
Light Management Group, Inc., based in Burlington, Ontario, has debuted its new 3-D, full-color laser projection advertising system in the Great Hall of Toronto's Union Station. Instead of using mirrors to manipulate light, LMG's system uses sound. An acousto-optic deflector sends a high-frequency wave through a crystal to manipulate light waves into clear moving images in 3-D. Amplified Light Technologies Corp. of Oakville, Ontario, installs, maintains, operates and sells the advertising for the laser projection system. Five-, ten- or 15-, 30- or 60-second ads are available. Four-week runs are expected to be most common, but campaigns of other durations are available. Initial advertisers in Union Station include Highfields Country Inn & Spa, King Packaged Material Company and the City of Toronto. Don Iwacha, president of LMG, said future plans include rolling out the system to additional interior and exterior locations in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions. Later the company hopes to expand nationally and internationally. One of the selling points of the system is that it allows ads to run in spaces that were previously off-limits because of historical value. Media relations supporting the launch of the laser advertising system are being handled by Editorial Edge Inc. of Markham, Ontario.
