SHIFT FINDS MVP
By Adnews Staff
Shift may be back from near death. Multi-Vision Publishing, based in Toronto, plans to purchase Shift, Shift Online and Shift TV. Financial details were not disclosed. The Toronto-based magazine discontinued U.S. and international operations earlier this month for financial reasons. The magazine had originally set itself an October 31 deadline to find a partner in the U.S. and secure financing. When that deadline passed, the publication pulled back to this side of the border, focusing on its Canadian business and searching for a partner closer to home. Multi-Vision will purchase the magazine from its employees, who purchased the magazine from its previous owner Normal Networks. Andrew Heintzman, Shift publisher, said that the deal is expected to close within two weeks, subject to stakeholders approval. Further details will then be worked out regarding publication frequency and the re-hiring of staff who have been laid off. The magazine, currently published ten times a year, will publish a November/December issue before the end of the year. Shift has a circulation of 70,000 in Canada.
