Cheryl Young, Fransi Weinstein and Sharon Zillmer have officially opened their new direct and digital marketing agency under the name tattoo. The trio of marketing veterans left their previous companies in June and July to form the Toronto-based agency. Young, formerly vice president and head of marketing with the Bank of Montreal, will serve as president. Weinstein, previously senior vice president and creative director of BBDO Direct, takes on the job of chief creative officer. Zillmer, most recently director of interactive marketing at DAC Group of Toronto, is the new firm's vice president of digital marketing. DAC Group, a directory advertising company, is the parent company of tattoo, which will operate as a division of DAC. Also, DAC has merged its digital division with tattoo. The agency is also planning strategic alliances with several media planning, buying and communications agencies including riddochdickinson, Carat Canada, Taxi Advertising and Design and Stewart Consulting Group. The alliances are intended to aggressively grow the company in its first few months of operation, according to a press release. Tattoo has also landed its first account. It won responsibility for AOL Canada's direct marketing campaigns after pitching its services to the Internet service provider.
